Gurdwara Aarti Sahib

Gurdwara Aarti Sahib is a Yaadgar Asthaan established in 2010 by Mukh Sewadar Baba Shamsher Singh Ji of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Religious & Charitable Trust to commemorate Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s visit in Jagannathpuri Odisha. In 1508 Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji touched the land of Jagannathpuri with his holy feets,Bhai Mardana ji also accompanied Guru ji during this first Udaasi. Guru ji blessed the King and people of puri for the betterment of their lives with happiness and prosperity. On the request of the king of Puri to join in the evening Aarti in Jagannath Temple Guru Ji joined the congregation and soon when he entered the temple premises, lamps were lighted in the tunes of temple bells and the devotees in the temple started dancing. Instead of going inside the main sanctum and joining the regular Aarti which was performed daily as per temple rituals Guru Ji sat beneath the open sky just out side the Garbh Graha near a Banyan tree inside the temple premises and recited the Holy celestial Aarti in raag Dhanasari in the praise of Nirankar the unseen Lord of the Universe.

Jagannathpuri being deeply connected with the Sikh History,even after 500 years ,there could not be edifice of any Sikh Gurdwara. As it was not possible to construct Gurdwara Aarti Sahib at the exact spot where Guru Nanak Dev ji recited the celestial Aarti in the temple premises it was realized that a memory (Yadgaar) of Aarti Sahib must be established in Jagannath puri. After a meeting of five Singh Sahibaans on 08.01.2007 at Sri Akal Takhat, Amritsar a Hukumnama was issued and Baba Shamsher Singh ji mukh sewadar of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Religious & Charitable Trust was entrusted the sewa to establish Gurdwara Aarti Sahib and restablish sikh gurmaryada in historical Gurdwara Bauli Sahib and other Sikh historical places of worship desecrated and under the control of mahants in Puri, Odisha. With the blessings of Guru ji and help of Sadh sangat a plot was purchased by Baba ji in Balia Panda near sea shore. With in a short span of one year Gurdwara Aarti sahib was constructed and inaugurated by Jathedar Takhat Sri Patna Sahib ji on 4th April 2010. Every year Sangat from over the globe visit the Gurdwara Sahib and take blessings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Gurdwara Bauli Math Sahib

During his stay in Jagannath Puri Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was requested by the local inhabitants to solve their problem of scarcity of drinking water as the underground water was salty in the area. Guru Ji accepted their prayer and got a well dug and blessed the locals with a sweet and fresh water source which is still sweet as nectar. This well with 38 steps was called Bauli and later the place as Bauli Math. The control of the Seva Sambhal of this place was under Udaasin Mahants inspite of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being established in the Math from last few centuries. After a long struggle of 12 years with the blessings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Odisha Government in its Historical order through Endowment Commission gave the rights to establish Gurmaryada, Seva Sambhal of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji established in Gurdwara Bauli Math Sahib to Baba Shamsher Singh Ji Mukh Sewadaar Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Religious & Charitable Trust on January 1st 2019. Trust also succeeded in occupying 10 rooms which are now used as Yatri Niwas for the devotees. As per our knowledge, since Independence of India in 1947. it is one of the First Sikh Gurasthaan where sikhs are able to succeed in establishing Gurmaryada again after being taken away from the panth by the tireless efforts of Baba Shamsher Singh Ji and his dedicated team.
